India on Wednesday said for the first time it will talk with All- Party Hurriyat Conference (APHC), signalling a renewed effort for a peaceful end to years of conflict in the Himalayan region. The government also proposed resumption of air and rail links with Pakistan. For Kashmiri people, who have suffered more than 14 years of a bloody revolt in the state, the steps would help bring the estranged neighbours closer. |
